TrustLayer goes back to school.
An independent school with 1,100 pupils aged three to eighteen. Safeguarding isn't a feature request, it's a legal duty of care, across web, cloud apps and email.

Royal Russell School is a coeducational independent school in South London: 1,100 pupils aged three to eighteen across 110 acres. Children are vulnerable data subjects in data protection law, and safeguarding them online is a duty of care, not a nice-to-have.
With its web security at end of life, the school's IT team went to TrustLayer partner Managed Security Solutions (MSS) in 2015, and after an extended trial took Web Security and CASB as the first line of defence.
“Most importantly, our pupils must be safe in the sites they are able to access. We have a duty of care and TrustLayer helps us with our due diligence.”
Then email joined the picture
Schools are targets: per the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, 41% of primary and 70% of secondary schools identified a breach or attack in twelve months. Email is the number one attack surface, so in 2019 MSS recommended Email Security too.
“This offered the school a single pane of glass for email and web to manage staff and pupils on both their wired and wireless networks,” said Sergio Masud, Security Consultant at MSS.
One view, per-pupil granularity
Intelligence is shared across email, web and CASB, stopping cross-channel attacks and blocking web-borne malware and inappropriate content. Rules are granular enough to give the junior school, the senior school and the boarding community each the access they need, at the times they need it.
“The main dashboard gives you a very clear view of what's happening in email, web and cloud security. It's like a pane of glass: you can see everything from emails coming in, to blocked websites. I then have the flexibility to drill down into each of those modules to investigate particular groups of users.”
Support that answers
“We fire off an email and within about half an hour, we'll get a response back from the team. That's been exceptional so we're very happy with that. The system was also set up correctly from day one by TrustLayer, and my team have been able to make any tweaks we needed with no issues.”
